EDWARDSVILLE One of the larger recent projects Edwardsville Public Works will embark on this year is a four-year plan to replace and upgrade city water meters, residential and commercial, with automated versions that communicate via radio signals.
Tuesday, the city council approved spending $1,002,250 on a sole source resolution from Core and Main for 4,000 new meters and Smartpoint radios as the project’s first phase. During the city’s public services committee meeting on Feb. 9 and at Tuesday’s city council meeting, City Engineer Ryan Zwijack gave a presentation on the topic.

A cozy basement pizzeria with a cocktail bar feels like a throwback to a time before masks, social distancing and remote learning. But Good Old Days, in the lower level of the new Marygold’s on Main in the former Inn at Newtown building, aims to recapture just that.
Upstairs, restaurateurs Clark and Kate Neugold have launched the contemporary and upscale Marygold’s, with menu items like sirloin tartare, roasted halibut, and lobster macaroni and cheese. Beneath Marygold’s, pizza pro Matt Stanczak is turning out creative pies and drinks in a laid-back tavern atmosphere.
